So far we have completed two trips out in our new Motorhome. The first, to Bognor Regis, wasn't far from home. This was a test run to see what we needed and what we had too much of.
Driving was a bit scary at first, especially getting out onto the road from our driveway. The vehicle is so much longer and a bit wider than my car, and the visibility is not as good. Along with that is the fact that it has a clutch and a gear stick! – who knew I'd need those again?
Bognor was a very nice site. The toilet/shower block was very clean and spacious and was well looked after. The site itself was quiet, apart from a bit of road noise early in the mornings. The evenings were great [describe what made the evenings enjoyable].
We had a hard-standing pitch with plenty of space for our awning and electric hookup and water supply.
The next site we visited was in Somerset, very near Watchet. The campsite was a mix of permanent caravans for Hinkley Point power station workers and holiday pitches. There wasn't a formal welcome, just a notice with a phone number. We called and were told to park anywhere in designated fields. Due to the good weather, the lack of hard standings wasn't an issue. The site had good toilets, but showers required a walk to a separate block accessible only with a 50p meter. We only used them once, opting for the shower in our motorhome for the rest of the stay.
The nearest pub was a pleasant 15-minute walk down a quiet lane. The food was good, but the service was slow. There were some amazing walks near the campsite, and a 45-minute walk led to a very interesting beach
This CAMC site is typical for the chain, offering well-spaced motorhome pitches and a peaceful atmosphere (assuming minimal traffic noise). However, the surrounding area brings down the overall experience. Houses and shops appear run-down, with litter present on the streets. Littlehampton, the nearby town, suffers from a similar lack of charm, with limited shops and restaurants open.
Overall: A good option for a quiet stay if you plan to spend most of your time on-site, but the surrounding area detracts from the experience. On our last day we took the bus into Arundel (a short trip, highly recommend) and this was a much more pleasant experience. Arundel is a busy and bustling area with great views along the river, a magnificent castle and plenty of places to eat and drink. Well worth the visit.
Bude is an amazing place to visit and the campsite at Wooda Farm is exceptional. The staff on arrival were very friendly and helpful, explaining all that was available on site, along with documentation for opening times etc. The site offers a variety of dining options, including an extensive takeaway food outlet, a bar, and a restaurant. . The grounds are well maintained and have extensive walks. This was a very professionally run establishment. Would definitely go back.
Great site, situated about 20 minutes walk from Henley town center. This is a vibrant buzzing town with plenty of places to eat get coffee or just stroll around. We walked along the river to the Weir and then back into town for lunch. Great day out..
